Save a Heart with Cottage Inn and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital
February is Heart Month, which means Cottage Inn is teaming up with C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital for the Save a Heart campaign. This campaign is set to advance care, research, and support for families of those with congenital heart defects.
The University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital is one of the largest and most trusted care providers for children and adults with congenital heart disease. Babies with congenital heart disease (CHD) are born with hearts and blood vessels that didn’t develop properly, which can lead to life-threatening complications that require heart surgery. Nearly 1 in 110 babies are born with congenital heart disease, making it the number one birth defect in the country.[1] Once diagnosed, children with CHD will require lifelong care and support. Most forms of CHD do not have a known cause, making the disease very difficult to predict or prevent.[2]
Through the Save a Heart campaign, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital aims to raise $150,000 to fund research, drive development of new technologies and therapies, and provide social work and assistance programs to families of children with CHD. With these contributions, they can enhance standards of care, encourage scientific discovery, and provide more personalized treatment to patients. Mott is an international referral center for children with complicated congenital heart defects, so it’s essential that they are equipped to provide them with the best care possible.[3]
Cottage Inn believes in the importance of raising care standards for children with congenital heart disease. We’re doing our part to aid C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in their goal to save hearts around the world. For the entire month, we’re also giving customers the option to donate with every order. For just one dollar, customers can purchase a donation card at the register to display in store and show their support for the Save a Heart campaign. In addition, we’ll also be placing collection boxes in stores to encourage further donations. We are honored to bring awareness to such an incredible cause, and we strongly believe in Mott’s ability to make a difference for children with CHD.
